Explore the fascinating world of art at the Antalya Sand Sculpture Museum. Marvel at large-scale sculptures made entirely from sand, depicting historical figures, animals, and more. It's an unforgettable experience for art lovers and families alike.
Sandland (Antalya Sand Sculpture Museum) is one of the world’s oldest, most prestigious, and largest sand sculpture events, held annually since 2006. Known for its massive scale, the event features hundreds of sand sculptures made by international artists. With an expansive area, numerous participating artists, and a remarkable amount of sand used, Sandland stands out for its artistic achievements. As a unique form of ephemeral art, the sand sculptures are temporary creations that symbolize the impermanence of life. Each year, international sculptors use only water and river sand to craft these awe-inspiring works. These sculptures can reach several tons in weight and meters in height, capturing the attention of every visitor.
The sculptures are displayed for a limited time, usually between April and October, with the artworks destroyed afterward, making way for new creations. This philosophy of transience highlights that nothing lasts forever and everything will eventually fade away. Located on the famous Lara Beach of Antalya, the exhibition spans 7,000 square meters and uses over 10,000 tons of river sand. The breathtaking works are a result of three weeks of continuous performances by artists from various parts of the world.
The Sandland exhibition is open to visitors every day, offering a unique opportunity to witness these stunning sculptures. As the world’s first and only 12-month open exhibition, it is available year-round. From May 1st to November 1st, the museum is open daily from 09:00 to 23:00, and from November 1st to May 1st, it operates from 09:00 to 19:00.
The theme for this year’s exhibition is "Space Adventure". This engaging and educational theme chronicles humanity's journey into space. The exhibit includes sculptures of key figures and events in space exploration, such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Galileo, Hazerfen Çelebi, Zeppelin, Yuri Gagarin, Neil Armstrong, the Columbia Space Shuttle, SpaceX Dragon 2 Capsule, the Mars Space Colony, and the planets of the Solar System. Additionally, famous space-themed characters from Star Wars, Star Trek, Wall-E, Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy, Fifth Element, and Interstellar are also brought to life in the exhibition.
Visitors have the chance to explore space through high-powered telescopes, where they can observe the sun, moon, and planets on a large screen. The exhibition is designed to engage everyone, from children to adults. Younger visitors can participate in the Magic Sand Castle area, using kinetic sand to create their first works of art.
Located by the sea, the Sandland exhibition offers a variety of additional activities for visitors. These include options like ATV safaris, water sports, and other exciting events. In the evenings, the sculptures are illuminated by LED lights, creating a magical atmosphere, further enhanced by music that aligns with the exhibition’s theme. In the museum’s café, visitors can also watch a documentary about the process of creating the sculptures on a large LED screen, providing deeper insight into the artistry behind the sand sculptures.

This was our second visit to the Sand Sculpture Museum, the first being in March 2023. We were surprised to find the sculptures still had the same theme but were in even better condition. It’s quite unique, and it's hard to find anything like it elsewhere. Entry is £10, and water costs €1. The staff were friendly and spoke good English. There’s a small cafe, clean restrooms, and a shop on-site. The video showing how the sculptures are made is really informative. The only downside is the green plastic coverings near the displays, which are a bit distracting. The website’s evening show photos look impressive. We took the LC07(A) bus from Lara Beach to the Holiday Inn, then walked about 20 minutes through the Sera Hotel area and a park with BBQ spots by the beach. There’s also a cafe and restrooms. We might not return until a new exhibition is set up. Thanks!

We visited the Sand Sculpture Museum as a family, and the weather was just perfect for it. The museum features plenty of sculptures, with a space theme this time, showcasing characters from various sci-fi films. There’s also a play area for kids, which is a nice touch. The entrance fee is very affordable, about £7 for adults. Overall, I’d definitely recommend paying a visit.

It was really disappointing. The place was completely empty, and the weather didn’t help — it was rainy with water everywhere. It didn’t live up to expectations at all, and I feel like it was a waste of money. Definitely not what I thought it would be.

This attraction is good for about 2 hours, max. Is it worth visiting? Maybe. Do you have a couple of hours to spare? Are you interested in the current theme? Does the entry fee seem reasonable for maybe an hour of fun? If the answer to all these is yes, then go ahead! The sculptures are incredible. Keep in mind, it's an open-air museum, so it can get really hot with no shade. Also, since they’re sand sculptures, some may be in worse condition than others due to weather. But the details are impressive. Don’t expect it to be the highlight of your trip, just a nice addition. (It has clean toilets and free Wi-Fi too.)

The advertisement definitely makes it seem better than it actually is. The area is quite small and only takes about 15-30 minutes to explore, which is disappointing if you’ve traveled from afar. However, if you have some extra time to spare during the day, it’s not a bad idea to check out the sculptures.

Not worth the visit. There are only a few sand sculptures, and it's located far from the center of Antalya. The ticket price is also too high for what you get.

I visited Sandland both during the day and in the evening, and I have to say it’s even more stunning at sunset. The statues are incredible, with amazing detail. Having a coffee right next to them is truly relaxing.

After seeing pictures on Tripadvisor, we were eager to visit, so we took a 1-hour bus ride each way, thinking it would be worth the 2-3 hours of enjoyment. However, the exhibits looked worn and weathered. Although the sculptures are made from riverbed clay rather than sand, they didn’t live up to expectations. We finished exploring in about 30 minutes and felt it wasn’t worth the cost.

How creative the artist can make the big sculpture with just water and sand combinations. I guess they should regularly (every day) make live session on how they make the Sculpture & the kids will not forget that moment

It might be worth a visit, but unfortunately, it was too hot when we went, so we couldn’t stay long. You can tell a lot of effort went into the sculptures. Kids under 4/5 get in for free. It’s a bit out of the way, but there’s a taxi right outside. Just make sure to tell the taxi driver to use the meter, not the fixed price! Thanks!

It’s a great spot for taking photos, and the work is impressive. The best time to visit is before sunset for two reasons: 1) the weather will be cooler, and 2) you can enjoy the sculptures in the sunlight and then see them illuminated with colorful lighting after sunset.

A great place to admire stunning sand sculptures. From Atatürk's sculpture at the entrance to the mystical creatures, all of them capture your attention and take you back to a childhood world. We visited Sandland at 11:00 am and were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves for half an hour. During busier times, it might take a bit over an hour to fully enjoy and admire each sculpture. The entrance fee is affordable, and the museum is definitely worth a visit.

I visited during the day, but I would have liked to go at night as well. The artwork is amazing! I especially enjoyed the Disney-themed sculptures. However, I did think some areas of the park, like the pond, looked a bit worn. Still, it’s definitely worth a visit!

While in Antalya, I booked a tour of the sand sculpture museum. It's easy to get there by various buses, especially the KL08 from Hadrian’s Gate heading towards Lara. The museum isn’t huge, but the sculptures are incredible— they look like stone, but they’re made of sand! It’s perfect for taking lots of pictures, and if you visit around 7 pm, the colorful lights come on, making the sculptures come to life. There’s a toilet facility and a small shop (though the girl working there could use some customer service skills). The museum wasn’t crowded, which made the experience more enjoyable. I stayed for about 2 hours, which is plenty of time to take it all in. Definitely worth a visit if you have time! Lots of great photo opportunities!

I was at Lara Beach and saw the museum entrance from the bus, so I decided to visit. The entrance fee was 30 Turkish lira, which wasn’t too bad. However, there weren’t many sand figurines, and some were falling apart, probably due to the dry and hot weather, with temperatures around 37-38 degrees that week. Overall, it was just okay—nothing special. Thank you!

This place is fantastic! All the sculptures are incredible, with so much detail—truly amazing. We visited on the same day as the Düden Waterfalls, so we walked there on our own. It was a bit of a long walk in the heat, but definitely well worth it.

We visited SandLand on a Friday afternoon, expecting everything to be made of sand, but the statues looked slightly damaged and seemed to be made of some kind of concrete instead. Someone tried to take a photo of us, but we declined, yet they took it anyway. After we finished exploring, he asked us to buy the photo, but we didn’t, and he responded with some rude words. We were a family of five and only spent about 10 minutes there. There wasn’t anything special, and it didn’t feel worth the visit.

Really not worth it at all. The website says, largest in the world and 6 miles long which is not true. None of the sculptures were more than 3m tall and you could view all of them in one glance as you enter Most of them were in disrepair. I would skip it

Similar to the review below, most of the sculptures have been ruined but we did manage to have a laugh about it and it was exciting to see and to just take in how much effort it must’ve taken the individuals who made these sculptures. It’s a shame that the storm had ruined most of them. We were told that there had been a storm so some of the sculptures have been damaged. The woman asked for 20tl we asked if this could be lowered, we ended up paying 10tl each. If you do decided to visit see if you can get the price down and do be aware that what you see in the photos from previous posters is not what it looks like now. It’s a bit of a shame that someone’s hard work has been ruined you would think there would be some protection over it for events like bad weather. Nonetheless we spent less than an hour here, if I had known most of the sculptures were ruined beforehand I wouldn’t have bothered coming. I have attached some photos below so you guys can get an idea of what it looks like now

Sandland – here's what it was like ???? The good: We were warned that the place would be updated in May 2019 and needed some work. So, we paid 20TL each, which was okay for what we expected. The bad: The ball pit had only 20 balls, and the floor was just old plywood. The toilets were disgusting— even the flies avoided them. Most of the exhibits were in poor condition or in ruins. It was honestly a bit amusing! The ugly: Check out the photos for a better idea. Water had destroyed all the sculptures except for the wooden pyramid in the middle. We spent more time guessing what the sculptures used to be. I understand the owners are trying in a tough environment, but even the exit was falling apart. Please, do NOT use the toilets unless you're okay with a variety of infections. The gutters (holes in sand with grates) and broken pallets covered in astroturf on the walkway were the cherry on top. If you plan to go, I’d recommend calling ahead to check if it’s still in such bad shape. You can probably spend about an hour here, max.

We visited here as a part of my sisters Hen Holliday as we were staying reasonably nearby in Lara beach and had wanted visit in a while. What an amazing place to visit, the sculptures are magnificent so much hard work has gone into them and you can see the sculptors have been dedicated to making them perfect for us all to enjoy. Great picture opportunity for the photo enthusiasts out there and only 25tl entry per person so well worth it for a nice couple hours away from the hotel. Some of the sculptures during our visit had some damage this was due to some bad weather recently, however this did not cause us to enjoy the experience any less. The location is away from the hotels so we used a cab to get there however for the avid walker in the summer you could take the walk, just watch the road as there are no footpaths and the stray dogs along the way are not too friendly. I would recommend this for people of all ages

If you are visiting the beautiful city of Antalya, be sure to visit Sandland. Sandland is located on the beach and it is a magnificent exhibition of sand figures. The suggestion is that you go on a visit in the evening due to the fantastic lighting of the figures and a pleasant time for the tour. It takes about 2 hours to visit all the sculptures, drink something in a small café and watch a short film about the creation of the exhibition. Fantastic experience :)

It’s a good place with more than 15 sand sculptures, but you won’t need more than 20 minutes to see everything. I’d recommend avoiding a visit during midday in hot summer weather. The place is completely open to the sky with no shade or trees, so if you're going in July or August, it's best not to go during the hottest part of the day.

While it’s not widely publicized, it’s definitely a must-see! We visited on our last day and loved the variety of sculptures. The descriptions for each piece were informative and interesting, and we also enjoyed watching the process of creating the sculptures on the LCD screen. The entry fee was 25TL each (about 8$), and no reservation was needed during this season. We went during the day, and though it was hot, we were lucky to have some clouds providing shade, which made it more pleasant. I think visiting in the evening around 7 would let you enjoy the sculptures in both daylight and with the lights projected onto them, which must be spectacular. Don’t miss it – it’s really lovely!

We cycled to Sandland from our hotel (cycle routes are pretty good all along this bit of coast) and it was well worth the effort in the heat. It's simply stunning the amount of detail that these sculptures have, and whilst it isn't a large or flash affair, you just keep going back to your favourites, be it a mermaid, Shiva or Odin. I believe artists were invited from 16 different countries to create a piece for the exhibition to reflect their national legends. It's incredible that they stay up and whole through all weathers, and there was a man working on an amazonian whilst we were there. Really cheap to get in - you don't get plagued to buy tourist tat and you can take photos- don't miss this hidden treasure!

You can make this visit as long or as short as you want: if you just want to zip though the sand structures you can or you can take your time, pondering over the inspiration behind each one and the fascinating attention to detail! Most of the structures were suffering from some level of damage but still, worth a visit. On Lara beach so you can walk down the promenade or spend some time at the beach while you're there.

It's not a place where you could spend hours, but for the small entrance fee, it’s definitely worth a visit. I recommend getting there about 30 minutes before sunset to see the sculptures in both daylight and after they’re lit up – it’s like a whole new experience in the dark. The children's play area is a bit overrated, though; it’s just a small enclosure where kids can play with sand, but you need to buy the sand to use it.

This was my first time seeing sand sculptures, and it was quite an interesting visit. The selection of sculptures felt a bit random – one moment you’d walk from the Taj Mahal to a dragon, then a Nordic warrior, and even Elsa, making it fun because you never knew what to expect next. I appreciated the info boards, though some sculptures didn’t have any, so we were left guessing what they were. Unfortunately, we arrived at the same time as two buses of kids, so it was noisy and chaotic. From other reviews, it seems the evening might be more impressive with the lights turned on. During the day, the sculptures were still impressive and detailed, but if you visit during peak sun, like we did, it can get quite hot. If we hadn’t been surrounded by loud, running kids, we would’ve watched the short film near the cafeteria about how the sculptures are made. Overall, it’s a nice break from the usual holiday routine. If you’re short on time, I’d recommend seeing the Düden Waterfalls first, then checking out the sculptures if you have time left. We paid 20 TL (3.6 EUR) per adult for entry, and parking was free, but it felt a bit pricey.

Antalya Sandland is an international sand sculpture festival and exhibition. We had a small issue at the entrance as we didn’t have the exact change (24 Turkish Lira), and the entrance desk didn’t seem to have any either. We ended up paying a bit more than the entry fee, expecting to get our change back, but we didn’t. It wasn’t a huge deal since the entry fee is quite affordable, but it was a bit confusing. The attraction is small but filled with incredible sand sculptures made from tons of sand. When we visited, the theme was "Wonders of the World and Myths," showcasing famous landmarks like the Pyramids, Eiffel Tower, Chichen Itza, and various mythical and historical figures. Descriptions are provided for each sculpture, and there’s a large sculpture of Atatürk at the entrance. There’s a small gift shop, café, and toilets. You can find postcards (which looked a bit worn) at the food/drink kiosk, but they’re sold in sets, not individually. Sandland is a bit off the beaten path, but there are frequent buses (like the number 9) that pass the entrance, though we had to change buses and use two tickets. It’s worth allowing 1–2 hours for a full visit.

The price I paid for the museum was worth every Turkish Lira. When I saw some photos on trip advisor I had to go and see it for myself. The images are so real and amazingly crafted with information that will really enhance your knowledge. It is in front of Lara beach and the creations change every season and so does the price. Unfortunately it's not a rip off it is just business because the Turkish know when it is peak season so they have to live some how. I would say it's a good trip for artists and sightseeing lovers but not for family and children because they are strict on touching the pieces. Overall this museum was the highlight of my trip to Turkey.

I do not recommend it during the day.... maybe at sundown and at night...cooler and light shows.... no need for Tour offices and guides... public transport or taxi and a reasonable entrance fee (reduced fee for kids under 12)

Wanted to visit this for a while as we are regular visitors to Lara Beach. I checked the website for opening times and it states that until mid November it opens from 9am. Therefore disappointed to arrive at 9.15am to find it opened at 10am. Spent 45 mins being followed by stray dogs from the nearby beach which terrified my daughter. Once inside it was very nice to look around at leisure and some of the sculptures are very detailed others not do much. Unfortunately after about 15 mins a school party arrived and the children were just left to run around the place making no end of noise and deliberately crossing the barriers and kicking the statues whilst the teachers just talked to each other. I could tell the Sandland staff were not impressed. We left earlier than we would have done due to the school party and spent just under an hour here. Would recommend but perhaps go outside of school hours.

We went to the Sand-sculpture event held in Sandland; the theme of this year was (14 Wonders of the World & Mythology). We enjoyed seeing different sculptures from different cultures made by amazing sculptors from different countries. I liked how they took care of the smallest details in every sculpture, the brief history and legendary story of each sculpture was fun to read... It wasn't boring at all. But here's a tip: Don't go there in the morning after sunrise or in the afternoon because it's gonna be so hot and you're gonna go all sweaty... And let's be honest; that's not a good idea to start the day with. Try not to leave the house without your sunscreen, sunglasses and any closed shoes you have... You don't wanna spend the day with sands in-between your toes. Also don't forget to take some water with you, 'cuz Antalya is REALLY HOT and you're gonna need it.

We visited the Lara Beach Sandland and were completely blown away by the incredible sculptures all made out of sand. It cost about £15 for 2 adults 2 teenagers & 2 little ones to go and was well worth the money as you won't see anything like this. They also have a little shaded cafe. The only thing I didn't like was having to pay for the toilet when I was inside. My favourite sculpture was of Troy and the Aztec building with tiny people! A great way to spend a few hours ????

Very good. The sculptures are really impressive. Though it is not very big but there are so many sculptures and with such fine details that an hour we spent was not enough to do justice to all but as it was arranged with our tour couldn't stay longer. I heard they change the theme every year. This time it was 7 wonders of the wold and mythology. Every sculpture is a masterpiece and can take hours to appreciate the fine details. MAGNIFICENT! !!

The sand sculptures at Sandland are so pretty, but the place was hard to find. I would recommend you visit this on the same day you are planning on spending the day at Lara Beach. The entrance fee is not too pricey and if you are already in the area, definitely worth visiting

Sand sculptures of the wonders of the world for 2016. Really pretty when lit at night. They demolish and rebuild with a different theme each year

A reasonably priced activity that was fun and took about 1.5 hours. but you move at your own pace. I took a lot of photos. Dusk is best time because sculptures light up. About 20 TL fee for foreigners. On the Lara / Guzelloba side. It's Adjacent to Lara Beach. They change the theme every year and do new sculptures so always interesting.

We arrived in the late afternoon - the attraction was almost deserted. The girl at the gate was very helpful & we spent about an hour wandering around. The various sand sculptures are very impressive , although there are a couple that need a little maintenance. Unfortunately the kid's sand workshop was not operating. Overall, well worth the visit

Stayed within 5min walk of this attraction at Club Hotel Sera and took a stroll down one night - it was 20 lira to get in so about £5. There are an array of around 20-30 large sand structures such as greek gods, wonders of the world

We visited this place in the evening before dark. It wasn't busy at all so we got the sand sculptures all to ourselves. They were truly amazing and the level of detail in some of them was awe inspiring. Admission is cheap (20tl) and I would say this is definitely worth a visit if you're in Lara. Buses stop very close by and once you're done here you can walk straight onto the beautiful beach and surrounding park/picnic areas.

We visited the sand sculptures as part of an all day tour around Antalya. We thought the sculptures were fantastic, absolutely stunning to look at, hard to believe they were made of sand at all and the time and effort that have gone into each piece is staggering when you stop to think about it! We enjoyed walking around and guessing what each statue was before we saw the information boards. I have to say, Thor was my absolute favourite!! The detail! And his eyes! Absolutely fantastic... my photograph does not do the work justice at all!

This place is quite far from the city and not the easiest to get to. It's a small site with around 25 sculptures, but they are nicely crafted and worth a visit.

A masterpiece of hand made sand art, I must say! This place has hundreds of sand sculptures both big and small and they have made attempts to make all wonders of the world, both fictional and real life. You are just left spell bound when you enter and see this master-art collection. Few sculptures like the one of Taj Mahal, Hercules, the Pyramids and Cleopatra are worth seeing and they leave you breathless for a moment. Must take kids to this place!

It's a bit hard to get to for me (coming from the city on the other side) but for those that stay on Lara beach area it's easy enough to spot.Nice sculptures, won't take up too much of your time. Go when the sun is not very hot or nearly sundown.

My wife said that I don't take enough photos of her, even though 90% of our photos are of her. I swear she wants more of her than of our kid. The first part of Sandland is great to argue about this topic. I showed her all the photos on my phone to prove I have taken hundreds already, but she wasn't interested in facts. The second half of Sandland provided some good backdrops that I could look at to break up the monotony of photographing my wife.

My wife always says I don’t take enough photos of her, even though about 90% of our photos are of her! It feels like she wants more pictures of herself than of our kid. The first part of Sandland was the perfect place for us to argue about this. I showed her all the photos on my phone to prove I’ve taken hundreds already, but she wasn’t having it. The second half of Sandland, however, had some great backdrops that gave me a bit of a break from just photographing my wife.
