The Basics

Na Muang Waterfall consists of two main waterfalls, Na Muang 1 and Na Muang 2. The first waterfall is about 80 meters high, with a large pool perfect for swimming. The site is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is free to visit, though there is a small fee for parking. The area around the falls is well-maintained, with benches, picnic areas, and pathways that lead to the falls, making it a peaceful spot for relaxation and photography.

Things to Know Before You Go

Before visiting Na Muang Waterfall, be prepared for a short but sometimes slippery walk to the first waterfall, so wear sturdy shoes. If you plan to visit Na Muang 2, be ready for a moderate hike that can take 20-30 minutes, depending on your fitness level. It’s also a good idea to bring swimwear and water shoes if you want to swim in the natural pools. There are limited food and drink options at the waterfall, so bringing your own refreshments is recommended. Also, bring sunscreen and insect repellent, as the area can be hot and buggy.

How to Get There

Na Muang Waterfall is located in the center of Koh Samui, around 10-15 minutes from Nathon Town. To reach the falls, you can rent a car or scooter from Chaweng or Lamai Beach and follow the signs. There are also local taxis or songthaews available if you don’t want to drive. Once you reach the parking area, it’s just a short walk to the first waterfall, while the second requires a bit more effort to reach. Be sure to follow the marked trails to avoid getting lost in the jungle.

When to Get There

The best time to visit Na Muang Waterfall is during the dry season, from December to April, when the weather is sunny and warm. The waterfall is most spectacular after rainfall, but if you visit during the wet season (May to October), be prepared for muddy paths and slippery conditions. The early morning or late afternoon is the best time to visit to avoid the crowds and enjoy the falls in a quieter, more serene atmosphere.
