Participating in the Bodrum Sailing Races is a collaborative and rewarding experience. Each team member has a specific role on board, ensuring smooth sailing during the competition. At the bow, the "foredeck crew" handles the genoa and spinnaker sails, a role that demands prior experience. Supporting this position is an additional foredeck assistant. The "mast base" crew manages the halyards, while the "pit" ensures the coordination of all halyard lines. The "trimmers" (Trim 1 and Trim 2) adjust the genoa during tacks, while the "mainsail trimmer" focuses on the mainsail. At the helm, the captain controls the yacht’s direction and strategy, organizing the crew and setting the tone for the race. Whether you’re an experienced sailor or eager to learn, this structured teamwork adds an engaging dynamic to your experience.

Dining Options During the Event

While meals are not included in the package, the event provides delightful culinary experiences. On Saturday, participants in Bodrum and nearby coastal spots can enjoy unlimited complimentary beer and a simple yet satisfying meal of köfte (Turkish meatballs) with bread. For a more luxurious experience, groups often opt for a rakı-and-seafood dinner at one of Bodrum’s renowned waterfront restaurants, where each individual pays their own way. While onboard, you’re welcome to bring your own snacks and refreshments to enjoy between races.

Race Schedule and Duration

The race schedule is packed with excitement. On Saturdays, two races are typically held, each lasting a minimum of two hours, depending on wind conditions and the route. Sunday features a single race, followed by an awards ceremony. The day starts at 10 a.m. with a crew briefing and yacht preparations, followed by a short training session at sea. The races kick off at noon, with Saturday’s competitions concluding by 4 or 5 p.m. and Sunday’s wrapping up around mid-afternoon.

Training Sessions

For those seeking to hone their sailing skills, training sessions are included. Training begins on Friday at noon, with a briefing and role assignments, followed by three to four hours of practice at sea in the beautiful waters of Bodrum Bay. These sessions provide valuable insights into race strategies, teamwork, and the intricacies of handling a competitive yacht. Whether you’re a novice or an experienced sailor, the training ensures you’re well-prepared for the weekend races.

Accommodation and Pricing

Our package includes yacht accommodation, offering a seamless experience from training to races. Staying aboard the yacht is both convenient and immersive, allowing you to fully engage in the sailing lifestyle. For those who prefer other arrangements, you can opt to book your own hotel in Bodrum, but the package price remains inclusive of yacht accommodation.
