It was such an exciting adventure! We went with a 6-year-old, and the safari was absolutely incredible. The vehicles were very safe, and the drivers were highly skilled. Sandboarding was a lot of fun—those who felt nervous could sit on the board, while the thrill-seekers stood up. The only challenging part was climbing back up the sand dunes, as every step sunk our feet deep into the sand, making it feel like we were stuck in place. Thankfully, the sand wasn’t hot. Since we spent a lot of time sandboarding, we missed the sunset over the inland sea, but we caught a glimpse of it from the car, and it was stunning! The inland sea itself was beautiful and definitely worth the visit.

However, apart from the stunning sunset photos you can capture in the desert—which are definitely a highlight—I’m not sure it’s something I’d do again. It wasn’t particularly unique, and the inland sea was just okay. That said, the organization was excellent. In the end, it’s up to you to decide!

As an American visiting the desert for the first time, I had no idea what to expect, but this Doha desert safari completely exceeded all expectations—and it was all thanks to our amazing guide, Abdulrahman. He went above and beyond, patiently sharing fascinating insights about the history of the desert and the cultural significance of camels in Qatar, which made the journey even more special and meaningful. Riding a camel at sunset felt like a scene from a movie—absolutely magical. And the dune bashing? An absolute thrill! I was gripping tightly but couldn’t stop laughing because Abdulrahman made the whole experience so much fun and exhilarating. The breathtaking views of the Inland Sea, with Saudi Arabia visible in the distance, were unforgettable, and without Abdulrahman’s detailed explanations, I wouldn’t have appreciated it nearly as much. I couldn’t have asked for a better guide—his warmth, deep knowledge, and enthusiasm turned this adventure into a once-in-a-lifetime memory. I’ll be recommending Abdulrahman and this tour to everyone back home!

Sandboarding felt more like sledding; I only went down once because there were too many people and just three boards available. However, the dune bashing was fantastic! Sitting at the back of the jeep added to the thrill, though it meant being thrown around quite a bit and having limited legroom. We did start 40 minutes late due to a flat tire before pick-up, which made me a bit concerned we wouldn’t be able to fit in all the activities, especially since the sun sets early. However, our guide Fasal was fantastic—he made sure we experienced everything! The sand dune bashing was thrilling yet felt very safe in the vehicle. The scenery, especially as the sun began to set, was absolutely stunning. We stopped at the inland beach for a beautiful sunset view before heading back to Doha. Everything went smoothly, but the camel ride felt a bit of a rip-off, as it was just a quick up-and-down with a photo stop, lasting around 10 minutes. Sandboarding was fun, especially going down the dunes, but climbing back up a few times can be exhausting. I think more time should be spent at the inland sea, especially to enjoy the crystal-clear waters and the beautiful beach across from Saudi Arabia—it was truly spectacular. The camel ride wasn’t really worth it—it was supposed to be 15 minutes, but it only lasted about 5 minutes at most. They walk you about 22 meters, take a few photos, and then walk you back. However, the sand dune experience was so much fun and definitely the highlight of the trip! Sandboarding was a blast, too—lots of excitement there! We didn’t get the drinks or tea that were promised, but it wasn’t a huge issue. Overall, it was a great experience with some minor things to consider.
