From Antalya: Full Day Salda Lake and Pamukkale Tour

Afterwards, we briefly stopped at a Precious Stone workshop before heading to the stunning Pamukkale. The place is breathtaking, rich in history, and the Cleopatra Pool was truly amazing. If you have a day in Antalya, this trip is an absolute must.

Although the early start might discourage some travelers, the destinations we visited truly surpassed our expectations. Khalid was thoughtful and polite, setting a calm tone by dimming the lights at the beginning of the day. He passionately shared his love for archaeology and was very knowledgeable about the local area, engaging the entire group without overwhelming us with excessive information. Breakfast was at a truck stop-style buffet, which was acceptable but limited only Turkish tea was included, and as someone who doesn’t drink tea, I found the lack of other options, including water, disappointing. Drinks on the coach were available for purchase (10 TL for water, 40 TL for a Coke), and Wi-Fi helped keep both kids and adults entertained during the long journey. Our first stop was Salda Lake, where we enjoyed paddling in the cool water and taking in the tranquil views. At Pamukkale, we had two and a half hours to explore. Entry to the travertines, terraces, and museum was 700 TL, with an additional 200 TL to swim in Cleopatra’s Pool. I recommend the challenging walk up the hill to see the theatre it’s in remarkable condition, and the views are stunning. Just be sure to wear sturdy shoes because the terrain is uneven. For those who find walking difficult, golf buggies are available for a fee. We left around 3:30 pm and stopped shortly after for lunch. The buffet was decent, offering a reasonable selection of salads, soups, mains, and desserts. Overall, it was a great value day trip, and we all appreciated the comfortable seats and winged headrests on the coach for a relaxing nap on the way back to the hotel.

Kadir was very patient and showed great respect to our family throughout the trip. However, the two and a half hours allotted at Pamukkale felt a bit short. We spent time swimming in Cleopatra’s Pool and visiting other sites, but didn’t have enough time to take photos properly. I also missed out on the paragliding since it was arranged on site and time was limited. Overall, it was a good trip and we enjoyed the experience.

I highly recommend this trip for its authenticity and punctuality. Our driver, Mete, and guide, Zuzu, were very understanding and pleasant. Mete was always waiting at the designated spots with a well-cooled, comfortable bus. They arranged the perfect itinerary for us. They arrived exactly at the agreed time, 5:30 AM, at the main road near our location—keep this in mind to avoid any delays. The buses provided were spacious and comfortable. After about an hour’s ride, we enjoyed a nice breakfast. Then we traveled for two hours to Salda Lake, which was beautiful and peaceful. Our guide Zuzu was fantastic—very knowledgeable and excellent at managing time. She kept us informed of any changes, which helped keep everything clear. We had lunch around noon at a pleasant buffet restaurant. Following Salda, we headed to Pamukkale. Note that entrance fees for Pamukkale and Cleopatra’s Pool were not included. We paid 400 Turkish lira per person for Pamukkale (which includes Hierapolis) and 250 lira per person for Cleopatra’s Pool, which was optional. We spent about four hours exploring Pamukkale. The trip went smoothly, with ample time for all activities. One piece of advice: bring comfortable clothes, flip-flops, towels, some snacks, and large water bottles since some places can be pricey, and staying hydrated in the summer is very important.
