Set sail on an unforgettable journey from Kas to the stunning Kekova Island and the ancient city of Myra. This full-day tour offers a unique combination of history, culture, and natural beauty, making it perfect for anyone looking to explore the rich heritage and breathtaking landscapes of Turkey's Mediterranean coast. From the sunken ruins of Kekova to the fascinating rock-cut tombs of Myra, every moment of this trip promises to be both enriching and memorable.
Your adventure begins with a convenient pick-up from your hotel in Kas, where you'll be transported to Demre Harbor. From here, board a comfortable boat to begin your journey around Kekova Island, one of the most picturesque locations on Turkey’s southern coast. The highlight of this part of the tour is the Sunken City, an ancient settlement submerged after an earthquake in the 2nd century. With our boat equipped with a glass bottom, you'll be able to see the submerged ruins of homes, streets, and even a church—an awe-inspiring sight that is unique to this area. As this is a protected site, swimming in the ruins is prohibited, but the glass-bottomed boat provides an incredible way to witness this remarkable historical site.
After exploring the Sunken City, we’ll drop anchor at Kaleköy, a charming village that was once the ancient city of Simena. Here, you'll have one hour to wander through its narrow cobblestone streets, explore the ancient Simena Castle, and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding islands and bays. The castle's strategic location offers a stunning vantage point, and if you're up for it, you can hike up to its highest point for even more spectacular views. Alternatively, you can relax in the serene waters below the castle or stroll through the village, where traditional Turkish life is still very much alive.
Next, we’ll head to Esmeralda Bay for a relaxing lunch and swim break. This beautiful bay, with its clear turquoise waters, is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a Mediterranean meal onboard. After lunch, we continue to Burç Bay, known for its cool waters, thanks to the underwater springs that refresh the sea. This is a great spot for a refreshing swim or to simply enjoy the tranquil atmosphere.
The next stop is Gökkaya Bay, a beautiful location where you can either swim or take part in exciting water sports, including canoeing and paddleboarding. For those interested in history, a visit to Pirates Cave is next, a natural cave famous for its large size and curved entrance. Take some time to explore this fascinating spot and learn about its legendary connections to pirates.
Our final stop before returning to Demre Harbor is Karemlik Bay, where you can try your luck spotting sea turtles. The waters here are home to three species of sea turtles, and with a bit of patience and a keen eye, you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.
After our boat tour, we’ll head back to Demre Harbor, where the land portion of the tour begins. First, we’ll visit the Museum of Lycian Civilizations, where you’ll learn about the ancient Lycian people and their rich cultural heritage. The final stop is the ancient city of Myra, famous for its rock-cut tombs and well-preserved Roman theater. The tombs, carved into the cliffs above the city, are a fascinating glimpse into the burial practices of the Lycian people. The Roman theater, one of the largest in Lycia, is another highlight that gives visitors a sense of the grandeur of this ancient civilization.
At the end of this enriching journey, we’ll return you to Kas, where you can reflect on a day filled with history, adventure, and natural beauty. Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or simply someone looking to experience the best of the Mediterranean, this tour offers something for everyone.
