Overview

This full-day guided tour takes you to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located about 70 km from Krakow. The site serves as a poignant reminder of the Holocaust's atrocities, offering an unparalleled opportunity to reflect on this significant chapter of history. Your journey begins with a convenient hotel pickup in Krakow, ensuring a stress-free start to the day. The comfortable ride to Auschwitz-Birkenau allows you to relax while the driver provides insightful context about the site, preparing you for the experience ahead.

At Auschwitz I, your professional guide will lead you through the main camp, including the infamous gate bearing the chilling inscription, “Arbeit Macht Frei.” Key areas such as the barracks, gas chambers, and crematoria provide a vivid account of the camp's function and the harrowing experiences of its prisoners. The guide’s narration adds depth, making the visit both educational and emotionally impactful.

The tour continues to Auschwitz II-Birkenau, where the scale of the Holocaust becomes even more evident. This expansive camp once housed over 90,000 prisoners. As you explore remnants of the railway tracks, barracks, and the ruins of gas chambers, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the tragic events that unfolded here. This part of the tour is both sobering and profoundly moving.

Designed to be immersive without overwhelming, the itinerary includes ample time for reflection at both sites. Breaks are thoughtfully planned, allowing you to process the intense emotions the tour evokes. This experience is not just about remembrance but also about education and respect for those who suffered. It is best suited for individuals over the age of 14 who wish to deepen their understanding of history in a meaningful way.

Having a guide was practical, and we didn’t have to worry about entrance tickets or travel. However, the experience wasn't as amazing as expected. The group was quite large, and there was no time to explore each area, read the available information, or reflect on the spaces we were in. There were many groups, and the waiting time to enter, along with the queue organization, was also quite poor.

The excursion itself was very good, but the organization was disastrous. We booked the tour in French under the false pretense that there weren't enough French guides. However, when we dug deeper, we discovered that it was actually due to the lack of French speakers, and we were placed with the English group. This was shameful.

The guidance from the Dutch-speaking guide was good. However, the pick-up time was at 5:30 AM, which could have been a bit later since the excursion is only half a day. Additionally, there are far too few toilets available at Auschwitz.

The experience was 50% disappointing and 50% excellent. I booked a tour in Spanish, but our guide didn’t speak or understand the language, so all the explanations and history were given in English during the entire bus ride. However, the museum guide was excellent—he spoke good Spanish and was very friendly.

I liked visiting the place, but it felt far too rushed. We struggled to keep up with the guide's walking pace and didn't have a chance to read the information or properly look at things. We also didn't have time for the shops, toilets, or anything else!

The tour includes entry to the two camps, which are quite close to each other. The guide provided detailed descriptions of what was being visited. The transport service from Krakow to the camps was excellent. One suggestion is to keep an eye on your emails for potential changes in the departure time (in my case, the departure time was moved from 7:30 to 5:30). Highly recommended.

Excellent organization and good communication during the tour. However, it was a shame that the guide rushed to start talking while half the group was still in the previous block. The sudden change in the tour start time (from 08:30 to 06:00) was also problematic, especially since it was only communicated the afternoon before. Overall, the visit was well organized.

I really liked the historical explanation. The only issue was the misleading title of the tour, which said "hotel pickup" in bold letters. In the details, it listed specific hotels and mentioned the pick-up would be just 3 minutes from our hotel. However, in very small letters, it mentioned a specific pick-up location, which was very confusing. If there’s no hotel pickup, it shouldn’t be advertised as such in the title.

The pick-up wasn’t at the hotel but at a meeting point 20 minutes away. We had difficulty identifying our van since the driver didn’t take a roll call. The visit was still interesting, and the guide was well-prepared. However, there were large crowds, and we had to wait a long time to enter. Once inside, there wasn’t enough time to fully explore the different points, as it felt rushed. In Birkenau, we saw almost nothing because it was already late and there was thick fog. I advise against going during the high season and recommend going very early in the morning to have enough time and avoid the crowds.

The guide walked through the rooms in Auschwitz ahead of us and explained them, but there were too many people in those rooms at once. When we finally reached the rooms the guide had described (with headphones), we had to "run" through them as the guide urged us to keep moving to the next room. Sometimes the sound cut out when the guide was too far away, and with so many people, we couldn't get closer. I didn’t have enough time to truly see or experience these places. The whole time felt rushed. In Birkenau, there were no headphones, and the guide spoke in a normal voice, making it difficult to hear—sometimes not at all when I couldn’t get close. I could hear the voices of other guides from nearby groups, which made it even harder to follow along.

Great experience, but there were too many people on the day, resulting in long queues. The tour felt too fast, and we didn’t have enough time to fully take it all in. We missed many points of interest due to the rushed pace. We were not informed that the Birkenau camp was under reconstruction, so we were disappointed to miss important buildings, especially the main gate. The breaks were too short to buy souvenirs, and there were limited toilets. My advice: don’t drink too much water!

We paid for a tour with a guide and skip-the-line tickets. The day before the trip, they contacted us with an offer to switch to a self-guided tour with a 25% refund, as they couldn’t guarantee a guide would be available. We asked Darian, the person who contacted us, several questions about our options, but he was unprofessional—at 12:00 PM, he simply told us "you have to choose before 2 PM" without giving further explanations. In the end, we chose the self-guided tour because we didn’t have other options. However, the 25% refund seemed small, as even the discounted price was still higher than the price for a self-guided tour, meaning they took more money from us than if we had initially chosen this option. We didn’t get skip-the-line tickets as promised and had to wait in line for over an hour to collect tickets. We also didn’t receive the guidebook we were promised, so the only information we had was from a brief brochure.

I purchased the package for a tour with an Italian guide for Auschwitz-Birkenau, with pick-up from a point near our hotel. The day before, they contacted me via WhatsApp to inform me of a time change (from 7:30 to 9:30), which was more convenient for breakfast but disadvantageous as the museum closes at 3:00 PM. This made the second part of the tour (Birkenau) feel rushed. The bus trip went smoothly, but on the way back, we encountered heavy traffic (though it was Sunday), so we arrived a little later than expected. Overall, it was a positive experience.

The line to get in with our "skip the line" tickets was terrible—we waited for over 1.5 hours. Once we got in, we were rushed. The Auschwitz part was very good, but due to the time lost in the line, we didn’t get to see much of Birkenau. We only saw one building and were told we were out of time, so we had to head straight back to the bus. There was no time to visit the gift shop or buy any memorabilia. I was very disappointed with parts of this tour, especially not having time to take a small reminder of what happened there. It was a long trip with no breaks. It’s definitely worth seeing and reflecting on the horrors of how humans were treated.

The tour was very well-organized and exactly as advertised. The pick-up and drop-off from our hotel were punctual, and the driver kept us informed well in advance, which made everything run smoothly. The tour itself was a profoundly moving experience. Witnessing the remnants of such immense human suffering was incredibly sad, yet seeing how the site and its historical artefacts have been carefully preserved was truly awe-inspiring. The commitment to educating people and honoring the victims, while fostering a sense of remembrance to prevent such atrocities from recurring, is remarkable. However, it’s important to note that the tour involves a significant amount of walking and standing, often on uneven ground. For those who have difficulty walking long distances or keeping up with a group, this may not be the ideal option. In that case, a self-guided tour might be better, allowing for a slower pace, though it would mean missing out on the wealth of information provided by the guide. Speaking of which, our guide Mirtek was fantastic—extremely knowledgeable and respectful throughout the experience.

A very disappointing experience with this tour company. To start, they arrived at the wrong hotel for pick-up and then informed us that they could no longer pick us up, leaving us to pay for a taxi ourselves to avoid missing the tour. By the time we arrived, the tour had already started, forcing us to purchase new tickets and join a different tour with the museum’s own guides, again at our own expense. To make matters worse, when I contacted the company afterward to request a refund, they outright refused, despite the fact that we didn’t receive any of the services we had paid for. The experience truly leaves you reflecting on the unimaginable horrors inflicted by the Nazis. A highly emotional and impactful visit that everyone should make at least once.

Expanding the hotel pickup area would be a great improvement, allowing more travelers to conveniently join the tour without the need for additional transportation arrangements. Including a few more or slightly longer stops during the tour, especially for lunch or souvenir shopping, would also enhance the overall experience. It would give participants time to relax, reflect, and make the most of their visit without feeling rushed. These additions could make an already memorable tour even better by adding comfort and flexibility.

The experience was disappointing due to several issues. The guide rushed through the tour, providing explanations but showing little empathy toward the group. He often walked ahead, far from the group, and engaged in conversations in Polish with another guide, making it difficult for us to follow or feel engaged. Additionally, we discovered that we had paid more for the tour than other tourists on the same bus and participating in the exact same tour. It feels unfair and unprofessional to charge different prices for identical services. Overall, this lack of organization and transparency made the experience less enjoyable than expected.

The driver arrived promptly at the scheduled time and ensured we reached Auschwitz well in advance, making the start of the tour stress-free. The guide was highly informative and showed great empathy throughout the visit. On several occasions, she respectfully turned off her microphone as a mark of respect, which added to the solemn atmosphere of the tour. The visit to Birkenau involved a considerable amount of walking, but it didn’t feel as informative as Auschwitz. We believe spending more time there would enhance the experience. Despite that, we are glad we made the trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau and found the entire tour well-organized. We couldn’t fault the company for anything and would highly recommend their service.

Everything about the tour was great, except for one issue—I paid extra for hotel pickup but was asked to go to a meeting point instead, which was a bit disappointing. However, the guide truly made up for it, providing an exceptional experience. Their knowledge, communication, and empathy were outstanding—definitely a 10 out of 10! Overall, despite the pickup inconvenience, it was a well-organized and memorable tour.

The tour was very well-organized from start to finish. The pick-up from our hotel was punctual, and the driver was both friendly and helpful, ensuring a smooth start to the day. We were provided with headsets, allowing us to clearly hear the commentary from our tour guide, who was interpreting from a Polish-speaking guide. The guide was clear, informative, and open to answering any questions we had. The tour is divided into two parts, starting with Auschwitz, followed by a short drive to Birkenau. A break for lunch is provided in between, and there’s an option to purchase a packed lunch for around £10, which includes a salad or baguette, water, juice, a chocolate biscuit, and two pieces of fruit. Given the high prices of food on site, opting for the packed lunch is definitely worth considering. The tour itself is deeply impactful and offers a sobering insight into the horrific events that took place. The respectful behavior of everyone during the tour added to the solemn atmosphere. Overall, this is a highly recommended experience for those wanting to learn more about this significant part of history.

Everything was great from start to finish. Communication was excellent, with clear instructions on where to be and the option to pre-order lunch, which was a nice touch. The coach arrived on time, and both the driver and guide were fantastic. We chose the packed lunch option, which was delicious and offered good value for money. The tour itself was well-organized, and the guide was extremely knowledgeable, providing detailed and insightful commentary throughout the day. Overall, it was a smooth and enriching experience. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested. Thanks for a well-executed trip!

The tour was very informative, with great facilities and easy access throughout. However, be prepared for a significant amount of walking, so wearing sturdy shoes is highly recommended. Since it was a bit cold during our visit in January, bringing a warm coat is essential to stay comfortable. Overall, a well-organized and worthwhile experience!

The whole experience was amazing, despite the poor weather—which, of course, couldn’t be helped. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and spoke with genuine emotion, making the tour even more impactful. From pick-up to drop-off, everything was well-organized. We opted for the packed lunch, which was excellent and great value. Additionally, we grabbed a coffee at the camp, and it was reasonably priced. Overall, it was a well-arranged and memorable day. This was a deeply sad but essential experience when visiting Krakow—truly insightful and thought-provoking. Unfortunately, I can’t recall the name of our guide, but he was incredibly knowledgeable and provided a wealth of information that added so much to the tour. The only slight downside was that, despite paying for hotel pickup and being located in the old town where pickup is usually possible, we were asked to walk to a meeting point. However, it didn’t cause any major issues, and overall, the tour was very well-organized and worthwhile.

The transport was comfortable, and we were informed of the collection time the day before, which made everything very convenient. The day itself was informative and well-organized, though understandably sad given the nature of the visit. Overall, it was a meaningful experience and largely what we expected. A well-executed tour for such an important and somber site.

I initially wanted the tour to start at 8 AM, but it was rescheduled to 10 AM, which was a bit of a drawback. However, we left promptly at 10 AM, and there was no waiting in line to get in, which was a positive. The only downside was that we moved through the sites quite quickly, leaving little time to pause and reflect, though that seems to be common with many guided tours. On a brighter note, the guide was friendly, helpful, and genuinely kind, which added a personal touch to the experience. Overall, a well-organized tour despite the minor timing issue.

A very touching and emotional experience—you know what you are going to see, but nothing truly prepares you for it. The transport was well-managed, and the guide did an excellent job, offering clear explanations throughout. The organization was smooth and efficient. My only suggestion would be to allow for slightly slower pacing, which would give visitors more time to fully absorb the history and atmosphere of such significant places. Overall, a well-run and meaningful tour.

Everything was well-planned and ran on time, with the pick-up and tour bus perfectly organized. The guide was fantastic—patiently waiting for those who were running a bit late to ensure that everyone could join and enjoy the experience. We had several well-timed breaks, which made the day more manageable. The actual tour around the exhibit was incredible. The guide shared a wealth of detailed facts and stories, making the experience deeply informative and memorable. It was particularly engaging when she shared personal insights about her role and why she finds it meaningful. Despite the eerie and somber atmosphere, it was a valuable experience for learning about this significant part of history and ensuring that the past is never forgotten. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a thoughtful and well-organized tour.

I won’t comment on the destination itself, as that would feel inappropriate. My review focuses solely on the tour provider. Communication was excellent, with clear details provided 24 hours in advance. The driver arrived right on time, and the ride was very comfortable both to and from the site. Everything was well-organized, making the entire experience smooth. I highly recommend this tour operator for their professionalism and reliability.
