Discover the wonders of Morocco on this 4-day desert adventure from Marrakech to Merzouga, featuring breathtaking landscapes, cultural gems, and two unforgettable nights in the Sahara Desert.
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley
Begin your Moroccan adventure with a scenic drive through the High Atlas Mountains, offering breathtaking views of towering peaks and lush valleys. Your first stop is the legendary Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its distinctive architecture and appearances in films like Gladiator. Stroll through the ancient corridors of the kasbah and immerse yourself in its timeless charm while marveling at its panoramic surroundings.
Afterward, continue to the tranquil city of Ouarzazate, aptly named "No Noise" for its serene atmosphere. Here, enjoy a leisurely lunch before heading to the stunning Dades Valley, also known as the "Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs." The valley's dramatic rock formations and green oases make it a true visual treat. Your evening includes a delicious dinner and a relaxing stay at Kasbah Amazigh Hotel, set against the backdrop of Morocco’s natural beauty.
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga
The journey continues along the renowned Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, leading to the majestic Todra Gorges. These breathtaking canyons, with their towering rock walls and flowing river, provide an incredible photo opportunity and a chance to explore the beauty of this iconic site. After soaking in the serene environment and enjoying lunch at a local café, you’ll head toward the golden sands of Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara. End the day with a hearty dinner and a peaceful night at Auberge Desert Merzouga, located at the base of the impressive Erg Chebbi Dunes.
Day 3: Merzouga – Camel Trek – Desert Activities
On the third day, after breakfast, immerse yourself in the wonders of Merzouga with a variety of optional activities. Take a camel trek across the vast Erg Chebbi dunes, capturing the magic of the desert at sunset. Adventure enthusiasts can opt for sandboarding, quad biking, or buggy rides, while others may prefer a relaxing swim or exploring the desert’s tranquil surroundings. Visit nomadic families in the desert with a 4x4, where you’ll be warmly welcomed into their tents to enjoy tea and the famous Berber Pizza. As the day winds down, arrive at your desert camp for an enchanting evening under the stars. Enjoy traditional Berber music, a delicious dinner, and an unforgettable night in the heart of the Sahara.
Day 4: Merzouga – Ouarzazate – Marrakech (or End in Fez)
Wake up early to witness the serene beauty of the desert sunrise before enjoying breakfast. Ride your camel back across the dunes, taking in the golden sands one last time, and prepare for your return journey. Travel back to Marrakech or choose to end your trip in Fez, passing through the scenic towns of Midelt and Ifrane. Conclude your adventure with a late arrival at your hotel or riad, carrying memories of Morocco’s stunning landscapes and rich culture.
This 4-day journey from Marrakech to Merzouga is an extraordinary blend of iconic landmarks, breathtaking natural beauty, and cultural immersion, making it a must-do for anyone seeking the true essence of Morocco.

The experience with our guide, Marouane, and our driver, Mohamed, was exceptional. Their professionalism and attentiveness made the journey smooth and enjoyable. The accommodations were comfortable, with the hotel in Merzouga standing out for its quality and atmosphere. However, the return trip felt quite long, as we stopped at the same places as on the way there, which made it a bit repetitive.

At first, we were hesitant about booking this tour due to the limited number of reviews. However, after noticing that Ando Travel’s 3-day tours had excellent feedback, we felt more confident in our choice. During our 4-day journey, we were grouped with a larger tour for the first two days, traveling with around 17 people in our bus. Our driver for the first half of the trip, Abderrahman Abbassi, was fantastic. He made us feel welcome, drove safely, and kept the group entertained with great music, creating a lively atmosphere. The first two days followed the same itinerary as the 3-day tour, while the third day was more relaxed with no scheduled activities apart from returning from the camp, breakfast, and dinner. It was a nice break from the otherwise structured schedule, giving us time to explore at our own pace. On the final day, we returned with a different group and driver, spending most of the day on the road. Despite the long journey back, the overall experience was unforgettable, and I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore the area in a well-organized and enjoyable way.

This tour is definitely a touristy experience, but it’s absolutely worth it. The first night’s hotel was quite basic, but it was still comfortable enough. In the desert, upgrading to a deluxe tent is highly recommended for a more enjoyable stay. However, it's important to note that if you're on the 4-day tour, the third night in the tent is not included. Unfortunately, we experienced food poisoning on the way to the desert, though this had nothing to do with the tour company. The team went above and beyond to help us recover, providing free drinks, food, and even a complimentary hotel room so we could rest instead of staying in the desert. Their kindness and care made a huge difference in our experience. A special thank you to our driver, Mohamed Ajbeli, who was incredibly professional, kind, and ensured a smooth and safe journey. Despite the setback, this trip was an unforgettable adventure, and I truly appreciate the outstanding service provided by the team.
