Your 2-hour activity begins with a scenic tuk-tuk ride to the heart of Siem Reap, a town renowned for its rich history in traditional Cambodian ceramics. For centuries, this region has been a hub for skilled artisans who have preserved the craft of pottery, passing down their expertise through generations. As you travel through the lively streets, you will get a glimpse of Siem Reap’s vibrant culture and artistic heritage.

Upon arrival at the ceramics workshop, you will be welcomed by an expert instructor who will guide you through the intricate process of ceramic creation. They will explain the different techniques used in shaping, carving, and finishing pottery, ensuring you gain a deep understanding of this ancient craft. A live demonstration will showcase the essential skills needed to mold and design your own piece, allowing you to see firsthand how raw clay transforms into a beautifully crafted bowl.

Next, you will step behind the pottery wheel and begin shaping your own masterpiece. As you spin the wheel, you will carefully mold the Cambodian clay into a bowl, guided by the instructor’s expert tips and techniques. To make your creation truly unique, you will have the opportunity to add Khmer ornamentation, drawing inspiration from Cambodia’s rich artistic traditions. The workshop is fully equipped with a variety of tools and materials, giving you the freedom to explore different designs and textures.

Once your pottery piece is complete, it will undergo the firing process overnight to ensure its durability and finish. Your pot(s) will be ready for pick-up the following day at 6 PM. If you are unable to return, you also have the option to select a handcrafted item valued at less than $5 from our shop on the same day as your class. This way, you will still have a meaningful souvenir to remember your unique experience in Siem Reap.
