The Turunc Cleopatra Island Tour is the perfect choice if you’re vacationing in the charming town of Turunç and wish to visit an exotic and unique beach during your stay.
The stunning golden sands of Cleopatra Island are protected by the Turkish government due to their unique texture, formed from dissolved seashells. Visitors are not allowed to take sand or spread towels on the beach to preserve its delicate ecosystem. However, you’re welcome to take as many photos as you like to capture the memory of this remarkable destination.
Also known as Sedir Island or City Island, Cleopatra Island is home to the ancient city of Cedrae, featuring impressive ruins such as a well-preserved ancient theater. Legend has it that Mark Anthony brought pale-pink sand from Egypt to this beach for Cleopatra, who longed for her homeland. You can also explore the Agora on the eastern side of the island, where athletic festivals were once held, and admire the bay where Cleopatra herself is said to have swum.
The tour begins with a scenic drive through Çamlı village, located about 27 km from Marmaris. After a comfortable 50-minute journey, you’ll arrive at the marina, where you’ll board a beautiful double-decked boat to start your cruise through the mesmerizing Gökova Gulf.
During the trip, you’ll enjoy two fantastic swimming breaks and a delicious barbecue lunch. Afterward, you’ll have free time to explore the picturesque Cleopatra Beach. On the return journey to Marmaris, you’ll also stop for a refreshing swim at Lighthouse Island, Ince Kum Bay, and Lacivert Bay. These locations are not only perfect for relaxing but also ideal for diving and snorkeling enthusiasts eager to explore the vibrant underwater world.
Once the tour concludes and we arrive at the Camlı harbor, our driver will take you to the bus station, where you can conveniently catch a dolmus back to Turunc.
