Embark on an extraordinary journey from Porto that promises to be an unforgettable experience, blending nature, culture, and culinary delights. This carefully curated tour is designed for those seeking a moderate adventure, with an easy to medium difficulty level, as we navigate a scenic 5 km route downstream.
Our day begins with a pleasant drive towards Arouca, where we will make a brief stop for a coffee break and restroom facilities before continuing our journey. We then arrive at one of the world’s longest suspension bridges, the Paiva Suspension Bridge, which stretches an impressive 516 meters across the valley and hovers 175 meters above the Paiva River. While crossing the bridge is optional, those who choose to do so will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the stunning landscape below.
Following this, we will descend the Paiva Footbridges, a 5 km wooden pathway that zigzags gracefully along the river, offering a tranquil and immersive experience in nature. The footbridges are an engineering marvel, allowing visitors to connect with the surrounding environment while enjoying the serene sounds of the flowing river.
After the walk, we’ll treat you to a traditional Portuguese lunch, offering a range of options including meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes, all prepared with fresh, local ingredients to provide a true taste of the region's culinary heritage.
Once refreshed, we will board the van for a restful ride to Costa Nova, a picturesque fishing village renowned for its colorful striped houses. The village is a perfect place to unwind and take in the beauty of its coastal charm.
Our final stop is Aveiro, often referred to as the "Venice of Portugal." In Aveiro, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the town's charming streets at your leisure. A boat trip through the town’s scenic canals offers a unique perspective of the city, allowing you to appreciate its beauty from the water before we return to Porto.
Arouca 516 is one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges in the world, located in the municipality of Arouca in the Northern Region and Aveiro Region of Portugal.
It is located on the left bank of the Paiva river in the Arouca Geopark, a UNESCO Geological Site, in northern Portugal.
Aveiro was an important port city until the 17th century. The canal running through the city is known as the "Venice of Portugal" for its long, colorfully painted rowboats.
