Kuza Cave
Kuza Cave, located in Kibigija village, is a sacred ancient limestone cave surrounded by lush jungle. This hidden gem is a well-kept secret and is managed through a collaboration with the local community and the Kuza Cave Team. Visitors can hike to the cave and cool off in a 50-meter turquoise pool, believed to have formed over 250,000 years from soft limestone erosion. The name “Kuza” means “growth” or “giving birth” in Swahili, while locals call it “Panga na maji” meaning “Cave with water.” The area is rich in Swahili history and wildlife, including Zanzibar’s red colobus monkeys and unique bird species.
