Overview

Alanya Sapadere Canyon Tour is a great way to explore one of the natural wonders of our local countryside. Formed thousands of years ago by glacial movements, the canyon is a melting pot of natural wildlife, flaura and fauna. This beauty spot has to be seen to be believed. With over 300 metres of wooden pathways constructed right in the heart of the canyon, you’ll be able to get close up, touch and feel the power of the water at one of the many waterfalls in the canyon. Bring a camera for this nature trail like no other.

We’ll begin the day with a drive of about 40km out of Alanya town through Gazipasa, Mersin and Demirtas until we reach the village of Sapadere. This untouched spot is full of original flora and fauna and is the pride of the Alanya countryside. The local lifestyle here is very sedate. Farmers tend to their livestock and the pace of life is a lot slower than in the city. One of the local trades is silk. This is because the vast amount of Mulberry trees in the area attracts silk worms. You can observe silk production during our time in Sapadere.

About 3km outside of Sapadere is the famous canyon (Sapadere Canyon). 750 metres long and 400 metres high this natural site of beauty is a stunning example of glacial erosion from the ice age. Guests can take advantage of the wooden walkways that have been built to explore right into the centre of the canyon. Home to numerous bird species and local wildlife the canyon is almost like walking into another world. The spray of one of the numerous waterfalls will cool you down and there is even an opportunity to take a dip in one of the calming pools. As we are up in the mountains the water here rarely gets above 12 degrees which is welcome relief from the summer heat.

As well as the numerous water falls we’ll also explore local caves such as the famous Dwarves cave which has stalactites and stalacmites of over 170 metres in length.

Following this beautiful, natural experience it is time for the group to enjoy a local lunch of fish and chicken as we rest under the shade of the trees, all of which is included in your ticket price. A perfect way to end the experience before we journey back to Alanya.

The ride was full of fun and entertainment! Be sure to bring swimwear and water guns, as the adventure starts with a playful water fight between buses after driving past a banana farm. Water bottles were provided, and the friendly competition made for a lively start to the trip. The journey to the canyon took about 2 hours, which was manageable. Once there, the fresh air and icy water (around 3 degrees) offered a refreshing experience, especially for the adventurous. However, the 1-hour stay felt a bit short. After the canyon, we visited the Dwarf Cave, which required a small additional fee of €3. With 20 minutes to explore, it was just the right amount of time to enjoy the unique experience. Next, we stopped at a small water park for lunch, where we had an hour to relax. Unfortunately, the meal—consisting of salad, rice, pasta, and chicken—was quite dry and lacked flavor. Additionally, drink prices were on the higher side, with a 0.5L Coke or Fanta costing €6. Throughout the trip, the guide captured plenty of photos and videos, which were available for purchase for €20. Overall, it was a fun and interesting day filled with unique activities and moments!

The experience was really enjoyable! We just didn’t expect to get soaked with water during the ride. :D The tour itself was fantastic, the staff were very relaxed and friendly, and the landscapes we passed were absolutely stunning. That said, it would be great if they inspected the vehicles more thoroughly before the trip. One car broke down, causing a 30-minute delay, and afterward, we had to stand in our assigned vehicle. Despite this hiccup, it was still a fun and memorable experience!

Our journey took us through stunning landscapes—mountains, valleys, waterfalls, rivers, and lush Mediterranean vegetation. However, the advance information was lacking. We were told to bring swimsuits but didn’t expect to get completely soaked from water fights during the ride. This left us drenched and uncomfortable, especially when visiting cooler spots like the cave at 15°C. While the experience was fun for some, it may not suit everyone, especially families with kids. The guides’ English was average, and there was little explanation about the sights, leaving us to look up information ourselves. Overall, the trip was punctual and well-organized but could improve in communication and preparation.

I was hesitant to book this trip because the price seemed too good to be true, but it turned out to be amazing! From the water fights led by a spirited young man to the polite and fun driver, everything was fantastic. The waterfalls were stunning, the spring water refreshing for a swim, and the caves fascinating. Lunch at the restaurant, located in a beautiful spot, was included (drinks extra) and featured delicious chicken and salad. The kids declared it their favorite day of the holiday. It was a day filled with laughter and smiles from start to finish—simply wonderful!

A budget-friendly option! While we didn’t encounter any cave-like structures during the tour, we explored a stunning canyon. The second stop was a cave that required an additional fee, which we decided to skip.

I can't recommend this excursion enough! From the start, Mete, the tour operator, kept us well-informed and even checked in to ensure we were having a great time. The driver was incredibly skilled, friendly, and always greeted us with a warm smile, even waving us off when it was sadly time to return to the hotel. The journey itself was filled with laughter, stunning views, and plenty of fun. The canyon was breathtaking, with gorgeous waterfalls and a lovely spot near the top for a quick drink. Inside the cave, we were treated to the delightful sound of a man playing the recorder, and the cool atmosphere provided a refreshing escape from the sun. Lunch by the picturesque river was another highlight. The staff were welcoming and kind, adding to the positive vibe of the day. A special shoutout to our energetic tour guide, Xan (apologies if I misspelled that!). His humor and enthusiasm, including singing "I Like to Move It," kept us smiling all day long. This trip is perfect for anyone seeking a fun, vibrant, yet relaxing day out. Highly recommended!

An amazing day out with breathtaking scenery, especially at Sapadere Canyon. We opted to pay the extra €3 to visit the Dwarfs Cave, which was worth it. The included lunch was delicious—I went for the chicken option. The experienced drivers were courteous and drove safely throughout the trip. For the price, it’s not only the most affordable but also the best experience. Highly recommended!

The waterfall was stunning, but unfortunately, the journey there was a disaster. The description mentioned pickup by jeep, but instead, it was an open bus. To make matters worse, the bus broke down, leaving us waiting 45 minutes for a replacement. The new bus was closed and uncomfortably hot. The driver’s reckless driving on narrow mountain roads added to the discomfort. While the waterfalls were beautiful, they didn’t feel worth the difficult trip. To top it off, another bus broke down on the return journey, causing further delays for everyone.

We had a fantastic time—such incredible value for money! The team put in a lot of effort to ensure the trip was enjoyable, and we got to see plenty of sights. The lunch was simple but tasty. That said, this is a lively and noisy tour, so it might not be ideal if you're looking for a peaceful day. However, I went with my teenage son, and he absolutely loved it!

The main downside of the trip was the excessive number of stops along the way, including silk weaving, a paid breakfast, and opportunities to shop. While the Banana Tree Caves (2€ entry) were beautiful and worth visiting, it felt like we were constantly rushing. At the canyon, there wasn’t enough time to fully enjoy the climb to the top—it was more of a quick round trip. The meal provided was good, but drinks were not included. Despite these issues, the destination itself was stunning, with breathtaking blue water, and the lively atmosphere on the open bus made the journey enjoyable.
