Wadi Bani Khalid was beautiful, and we ended up at the lower pool, though you can hike to a pool about 1 km from the restaurant. The buffet at the restaurant was okay, but the guide had bought us Omani bread with honey and cheese on the way, which was delicious. The desert was lovely, but the visit to the Bedouin site felt more like a stop at a tent with items for sale and a camel ride.

It was an unbelievably great day! We were picked up at the hotel by our super friendly guide, Mohammed, with whom we had a wonderful conversation the entire time. We could ask anything, and he provided informative answers. We laughed a lot together. On the way, we stopped for Omani tea, and lunch was a buffet, which was also delicious for vegetarians. On the way back, we were treated to Golden Balls with date syrup—such a nice touch. We arrived at Wadi Bani Khalid safely around one o’clock, and we loved it there even more because there were far fewer people than in Wadi Shab. Swimming was much easier as the water was deeper. An absolutely magical moment was the sunset in the stunning dunes of the desert—words cannot describe it. The last day of the year couldn’t have been better for us as a family of three. A huge credit to our guide, who truly deserves a big thank you!

Unfortunately, not at all! The first stop was just a Bedouin tent on the edge of the desert, and the second stop was an overcrowded, tourist-filled artificial facility. The only reason I’m giving it 5 stars is because the guide was excellent, and I don’t want to leave a negative review. Such a pity.

We did even more than the original program promised, including an extra visit to a Bedouin home. Our guide, Abdallah, was professional, helpful, and spoke great English, which allowed our group to learn a lot about the sites and their cultural contexts. The group was small, with only 4 tourists, which was the ideal number. The car was spacious and clean. Overall, I’d give this experience a 10/10.

This tour was amazing! The sand dunes stretched as far as the eye could see, and they were absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing. Wadi Bani Khalid was stunning and so refreshing—definitely make sure to pack your swimming gear! Ali was an excellent guide, showing us the beauty and diversity of Oman and sharing his knowledge with us. The trip was amazing—this is exactly what I came to Oman for. The desert, off-road adventure, and the beautiful Wadi Bani Khalid were unforgettable. I really liked our guide, Yaqoob, who was very nice and funny. It was a beautiful tour with great views and nice weather. Overall, just keep in mind that you'll spend 5+ hours in the car and about 2.5 hours enjoying the outdoors. Be sure to come prepared with a full bathing suit for the wadi (shoulders and thighs covered for both men and women).

The desert excursion wasn't as exciting as expected. However, our guide, Ahmed, was very professional. We also anticipated a camel ride, but it ended up being more of a quick stop instead.

Although we discovered beautiful landscapes on all the excursions to Muscat, we misjudged the distances. After a 4-hour round-trip drive, there was hardly any time left to do much other than a quick slide in the dunes. At Wadi Bani Khalid, we swam a bit but mostly walked in the water. It would have been helpful to get more explanations about this excursion, especially since we had to rent a vest when leaving the boat. As for the Bimmah chasm, we didn’t find much interest in discovering a body of water in a park, other than going down to swim. Overall, my friend and I were a little disappointed by the interest of the excursions, including Nizwa, where we made a brief stop at the Fort, and the guide, of course, took us to the pottery shops. The same goes for the small desert foray, where we ended up in a tent drinking coffee, surrounded by craft items for tourists.

Guide Abdul was very friendly and helpful, and the Toyota 4x4 and transfers were excellent. However, the 5 hours of travel left only 40 minutes for lunch, 40 minutes at Wadi Bani Khalid, and 1.5 hours in the desert (including 40 minutes at a Bedouin residence). I would recommend anyone wanting to experience this to spend the night in Bidiya and do the excursion on-site. It will cost less and last several hours longer.

Unfortunately, it rained that day, so the desert experience was a bit “different” than planned. We couldn't visit the wadi because of the heavy rain. However, our guide, Said, was super nice, shared a lot of information, and ensured that the day was still a great experience. In the desert, we rode camels in the rain, enjoyed delicious coffee in the Bedouin tent, and found plenty of things to buy. People rely on tourists, so I thought it was absolutely fine. I can definitely recommend the tour!

I was lucky enough to do the activity with just 3 people, so we had more time to talk casually with the guide. A big thanks to Mohammed for this wonderful drive! Reaching the desert, I agree that it's better to go with a guide, just driving through the dunes with the 4x4s. For the Oasis, I recommend renting a car since it's only a 2-hour drive from Muscat, and it will give you more time to relax and enjoy the place.
