Nor was a wonderful guide extremely knowledgeable and experienced. The tour began with a visit to a pottery studio to appreciate some beautiful art, then we went on to St. Mary’s Temple and afterwards to Ephesus, where we had lunch before stopping by a Turkish delights store. Ephesus is a remarkable place for anyone passionate about classical history — it's filled with fascinating stories, and there’s even an interactive show at the museum to bring it all to life. The only downside was that the company we booked through hadn’t made it clear that there are additional entrance fees for Ephesus and St. Mary’s Temple, so I’d advise future travelers to check the total cost before booking. This didn’t spoil our day, though we still had a really great time.

I had a truly incredible experience on this day trip to Ephesus from Marmaris, and I honestly can’t recommend it enough! The communication before the tour was smooth and easy via WhatsApp. I was promptly picked up from my hotel at 5:30 AM. The drive is quite long, but our driver was calm, professional, and completely focused, allowing us to rest and nap along the way. Huge credit to him for making it a comfortable ride! About two hours into the journey, we stopped at a small café for a simple breakfast — a bagel with butter and jam — which was perfectly fine to keep us going. Tea, coffee, and other drinks were available for a small additional cost. After another 45-minute drive, we visited a pottery workshop. It was really interesting to watch the craftsmanship up close, and there was absolutely no pressure to buy anything, which I appreciated. Ephesus itself was breathtaking — entrance is €40 but worth every penny. Strolling through the ancient ruins feels truly surreal, and what made it even more special was our guide, Nur. She was simply remarkable — passionate, knowledgeable, and a wonderful storyteller — really helping us appreciate the rich history of the city. She also made sure we had free time to take photos and explore at our own pace. We then went to a buffet restaurant with plenty of food options to suit all preferences — the meal was hearty and enjoyable, with drinks available separately. After that, we visited the Temple of Artemis and the House of the Virgin Mary — a profoundly peaceful place where we were encouraged to write down our wishes and leave them on a wall. If you wish, bring an empty bottle to collect water from the nearby spring, which is said to hold healing properties — a lovely tradition to be a part of, whether you believe in it or not. Lastly, we made a stop at a Turkish delight and sweet shop — again, there was no pressure to buy, but plenty of samples to try. Overall, this tour was a highlight of my trip. Nur’s enthusiasm, expertise, and kindness truly brought history to life, and our driver made sure we felt comfortable and safe every step of the way. I’d highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting.

We also had plenty of time to take photos and explore at our own pace. The tour included a lovely lunch and a quick stop at a Turkish delight factory on the way back. The entrance ticket was €40 and was payable separately, but Nur collected it on the bus, allowing us to avoid waiting in line and get straight into Ephesus.

Overall, we had a really enjoyable day exploring Ephesus. Nur, our guide, was great and provided a helpful historical background of the ancient city. The entrance fee for Ephesus was €40 per person, payable on the day, while entry to the Virgin Mary’s House was 500 lira. We were in a group of about 10–15 people, and we stayed together, which meant the pace was a bit quicker — something to be aware of if you prefer to linger. Breakfast was fairly light (a bagel and a small muffin), but the lunch buffet was good, and we also made a nice stop at a pottery workshop and a Turkish delight shop. I’d suggest bringing plenty of water, comfortable shoes, a hat, and sunglasses. All in all, it was a lovely day out.

We enjoyed a friendly and engaging Hektor tour with Nur, focused on local history. The hotel pick-up was smooth, and the driver kindly turned off the lights so we could rest for the first two hours before our breakfast stop. The traditional pottery stop was a fascinating bonus — watching the craftsman shape the pot, the artists applying the finishing touches, and a clever trick that I won’t spoil here. At Ephesus, we moved from one shaded spot to another, with Nur providing bursts of detailed information about nearby landmarks followed by time to explore on our own (just be sure to keep up!). The new Digital Experience offered a fresh perspective—and some welcome air-conditioning! After an open buffet lunch, we opted to explore Selçuk on foot, quickly visiting the Castle, Basilica, and the ruined Temple of Artemis before rejoining the coach, which was returning from the optional stop at the House of the Virgin Mary.

Nur was a fantastic host and guide, and the day was very reasonably priced. The coach was comfortable—which is important for such a long journey—and the food provided was tasty and vegetarian-friendly. Ephesus itself is surprisingly vast and impressive, and the ‘Ephesus Experience’ museum at the end was really enjoyable. We asked Nur plenty of questions, all of which she answered with great humor and knowledge. She definitely made the trip more fun and memorable.

It turned into a wonderful day, and I’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in history and archaeological sites. We also had the chance to visit the House of the Virgin Mary, which was a remarkable and spiritual experience. My only piece of advice is to check with your booking agent what’s included, as some entrance fees may be additional. We chose to leave the younger children at the hotel with someone we trust, as it’s a long day with quite a bit of travel roughly 3 hours each way.

The Ephesus tour was great everything went smoothly. A big thank you to Eric, who arranged it for us. The team really went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful experience. The only challenge was on the way back, when a fire forced the road near Marmaris to be closed, adding about 4 additional hours to our journey. We ended up spending nearly 6 hours on the bus, with just a brief 15 minute stop at a gas station for a restroom break and some snacks. Apart from that unexpected incident, the tour was excellent.
