I chose the chicken dish, which came with salad, chips, rice, and bread—hearty and delicious. Afterward, Nur guided us to the canyon, where you have the option to go rafting or take a walk through the water. Water shoes can be purchased if needed. We had about an hour to explore the area before returning to the bus. I would strongly recommend this tour. The only extra cost was for drinks, and I noticed many people entering the water barefoot. Overall, it was a fantastic day out.

I’ve visited Pamukkale before—a Turkish natural wonder—but this place was on another level. This was my first visit to Turkey, and well before the trip began, I knew I had to see the Blue Lagoon. Since we were staying in Marmaris, we opted to book a tour rather than travel by taxi or bus. Often, these tours include meals and extra stops that make the experience more enjoyable. I’m glad to say this was definitely the right decision! Our pickup was from just a few steps away from our hotel. From there, a coach took us the rest of the way to the Blue Lagoon in Olu Deniz. We stopped for breakfast shortly after setting off, and it was included in the tour price. It was incredibly good value considering everything included. The coach ride to the Blue Lagoon lasted about two hours, and we had around 2 to 2.5 hours to explore on our own. Although that sounds like plenty of time, the moment you see the water, you realize you could easily spend much longer there. My partner and I are enthusiastic snorkelers and paddleboarders, planning to try both activities, but we ended up spending all our time swimming in the warm, Mediterranean-fed water that felt like a cozy bath. Before long, we were back on the coach heading to the next spot—“the hidden city.” I won’t attempt to spell the Turkish name out of respect for the locals! This valley lies at the foot of the mountains and is hidden from view until you reach the bottom of the canyon road. Once there, lunch was served under the shade of trees, and you can dip your feet into the crystal-clear, chilly water if you dare—watch out for the geese too. After lunch, we walked through the entrance into the valley itself, and it’s truly a sight to behold. No photo I took could capture the incredible clarity of the water or the grandeur of the surrounding mountains. The time we had here felt far too short to fully appreciate the beauty of the place. We then made our way back to Marmaris, a long trip but made comfortable by an air-conditioned coach. Overall, it was a 12-hour day with an early start, but absolutely worth every minute. Our tour guide, Nur, was warm and welcoming, sharing plenty of local insights and helpful tips. I highly recommend booking this tour—you won’t be disappointed!
