Overview

Your adventure begins with the soft hues of dawn as we pick you up from your hotel in Marmaris. Settling into our comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle, you’ll witness the Turkish landscape awakening during a 45-50 minute drive to Muğla. Here, we pause for a delightful breakfast. While we provide a thoughtfully prepared breakfast package, you have the option to purchase freshly brewed tea or coffee from the local café, enhancing your meal. This 30-minute interlude not only satisfies your palate but also offers a glimpse into the local morning ambiance.

Refreshed, we continue with a two-hour scenic drive to Pamukkale, renowned for its surreal white travertine terraces and rich historical tapestry. Our first stop is an intriguing onyx workshop. Pamukkale is famed for its exquisite onyx, a semi-precious stone that has been crafted into art pieces for centuries. At the workshop, you’ll observe skilled artisans transforming raw onyx into intricate designs. The adjoining café provides an opportunity to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, and well-maintained restrooms are available for your convenience. This 30-minute visit not only enlightens you about local craftsmanship but also allows for a comfortable pause before the main exploration.

Upon arrival at Pamukkale, our efficient entry process ensures minimal waiting time, allowing you to maximize your exploration. The entrance fee is included in the tour package, and our experienced guide will assist with swift access. Once inside, a 30-minute guided tour introduces you to the mesmerizing travertine terraces—formed over millennia by mineral-rich thermal waters. These terraces, often referred to as the “Cotton Castle,” are a UNESCO World Heritage site and a testament to nature’s artistry. Adjacent lies the ancient city of Hierapolis, established in the 2nd century BC, offering a profound glimpse into historical grandeur.

After the guided segment, you have three hours of leisure to immerse yourself in the site’s multifaceted attractions. History enthusiasts can explore the well-preserved ruins of Hierapolis, including the grand Roman theater, the Temple of Apollo, and the extensive necropolis. The city’s historical significance is profound, having served as a healing center where patrons retired or died, as evidenced by the large necropolis filled with tombs.

For those seeking relaxation, a visit to the Antique Pool, commonly known as Cleopatra’s Pool, is a must. Legend suggests that this pool was a gift from Mark Antony to Cleopatra, and its thermal waters, rich in minerals, are believed to have therapeutic properties. Swimming amidst submerged ancient columns, remnants of a bygone era, offers a unique blend of relaxation and history. The pool’s warm, mineral-rich waters have been a draw for visitors seeking rejuvenation.

Nature lovers can wander along the travertine terraces, feeling the warm waters that have sculpted this landscape over thousands of years. The terraces are formed by the deposition of calcium carbonate from the thermal waters, creating a cascading effect of white basins filled with turquoise waters. This natural wonder, combined with the historical ruins, makes Pamukkale a unique destination that seamlessly blends natural beauty with ancient history.

Additionally, the Pamukkale Archaeology Museum, housed in the former Roman baths, showcases artifacts from Hierapolis and the surrounding region, providing deeper insights into the area’s rich cultural heritage.

After reconvening, we proceed to a local restaurant for a sumptuous open buffet lunch, included in the tour. Here, you can savor a variety of Turkish dishes, catering to diverse palates. Beverages are available for purchase separately. Post-lunch, we commence our return journey to Marmaris. A 20-minute comfort stop en route allows for a brief rest before we arrive back in Marmaris, where you’ll be escorted to your hotel.

The view was awesome and the staff were super nice. The only downside was that no one told us ahead of time that the Cleopatra pools were closed—they’ve been shut for six months, and it would’ve been good to get a heads-up the day before. A lot of people go just for the pools, especially in that kind of heat. Also, make sure to bring sunscreen and maybe a hat—the sun was really strong. Other than that, it was definitely worth the visit.

Nur was an amazing guide during our time in Pamukkale, Türkiye. She really knew her stuff when it came to the area’s history and geology, which made the travertine terraces and the ancient city of Hierapolis so much more interesting. She was super friendly, professional, and had a great way of keeping everyone involved and up to speed. Her way of explaining things added real depth to what we were seeing, and her love for the place was easy to see. Nur also went the extra mile—helping with photos and making sure we were all comfortable. She made the whole experience something we’ll always remember. I’d definitely recommend her to anyone visiting this part of Türkiye.

It’s like a cotton paradise absolutely magical, especially with our amazing guide, Mart. The bus ride was a bit long, but totally worth it in the end. Everything was really well organized. Personally, I’d skip the stone shop at the start it felt like a typical tourist stop but I get that some people enjoy shopping, so that’s just my take. The site itself is huge, and you really do need the full 3 hours to explore it properly. If you can, make the extra effort to walk down to the lowest pools—it's worth it for the great photos without the crowds. Definitely recommended.

Pamukkale and Hierapolis are absolutely breathtaking the mix of natural beauty and ancient ruins is something special. Our guide, Merte, was kind, clear, and super helpful throughout the day. The transport was comfortable, and the food was really good too. I’d definitely recommend this trip to anyone nearby. If I had to change one thing, I’d probably skip one of the extra stops to have more time at the main site. The wine shop and stone workshop were interesting, but not really why we came. Still, overall a great experience.

Mert our guide, was very friendly and gave us a clear overview at the beginning of the day. Exploring Pamukkale was amazing the travertine terraces were beautiful, but the theater stood out as a real highlight. Being up there, taking in the views, was one of the best parts of my trip to Turkey. The buffet lunch was also excellent, with plenty of tasty options. The only reasons I didn’t give a full 5 stars are the stops we made. The visit to the “Stonemasons” felt a bit awkward, like a push to buy something, and the wine tasting after lunch wasn’t on the original itinerary. Both were fine though we even bought some pomegranate wine as a gift for our parents. Still, I would have preferred to spend that extra time exploring more of Pamukkale itself. One tip for future travelers: the Cleopatra pool is currently closed, which we found out with a quick Google search beforehand. Also, entry fees aren’t included in the tour price (£26/€30), but since the tour covers transport, a light breakfast, buffet lunch, and lots of great info from Mert, we were happy to pay the extra. All in all, it was a fantastic day packed with history. Thanks so much, Mert.

Tour guide Nur was truly wonderful. She shared so much information in a relaxed way it honestly felt more like spending the day with a friend. She’s a really funny person and even let us rest during the bus ride. The excursion was long, but it was filled with things to do, and I especially liked the man at the winery. He was kind and generous, offering us some really tasty wines along with melon and grapes. It was definitely worth both the price and the time.

An Unforgettable 27th Anniversary Experience! We chose this tour to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary, and it turned out to be truly memorable! Our guide, the charming Nur, was so knowledgeable and experienced — she kept us engaged and made sure everything went smoothly. We had the chance to see the breathtaking Pamukkale, tasted some wonderful wines, and even did a bit of shopping for souvenirs to bring back home. The lunch was a real highlight — fresh, rich in flavor, and a great representation of the local cuisine. Every step was perfectly planned, and we felt comfortable and well cared for from start to finish. We’re really delighted with the experience and would certainly recommend this tour to anyone who’s staying in Marmaris. Best wishes, Daria & Viktor Petrov

The tour started early, and the pickup from our hotel was smooth. After about two hours of travel, we had a breakfast stop. The food included a sesame bread similar to a pretzel, some condiments, and a few sweet treats like a small packaged cake. I enjoyed the pretzel with chocolate spread. Drinks weren’t included and were sold at typical tourist prices. There was also a stop to look at jewelry and onyx, which I could have skipped personally, but maybe that’s why the tour was more affordable. I recommend bringing cash for the Pamukkale entrance fee to avoid wasting time searching for ATMs. Government cash machines worked best. Our guide Nur was quite entertaining, charming, and attentive, making sure everyone stayed together. The information she shared about Pamukkale was brief but sufficient for us. Pamukkale itself was stunning and located in a beautiful setting. The Cleopatra pool was closed, which makes me want to return someday to see it. I suggest wearing trainers inside, though I managed with flip-flops. Lunch was a very good buffet, not heavy on meat or fish, but we really enjoyed it. Drinks were not included and cost 100 lira for a small 200ml bottle of Sprite, which is standard tourist pricing. This wasn’t a big issue since the food was good. On the way back, we stopped for a wine tasting, but it wasn’t grape wine, and I didn’t enjoy it much. The shop felt overpriced, and I was a bit disappointed by this extra shopping stop. Overall, I would definitely recommend this day trip.

Fabulous experience. Nur is a local and clearly knows the area very well. She also took us to a fantastic wine tasting much better than others I’ve been to. We quickly became friends, and from now on, I would definitely choose a tour with her over any other guides.

We experienced a wonderful mix of sights and activities. Our tour guide Nur was so kind, helpful, and full of humor; she explained everything thoroughly while also allowing us time to explore at our own pace. The excursion started with an early-morning coach ride (with a chance to rest) until we reached the first stop at the Onyx factory, which was really interesting. From there, we visited Pamukkale, a place rich in history and offering beautiful views. Later, we stopped for a buffet featuring authentic food with great service. The wine tasting was just a short drive afterwards, where we tasted a range of wines, syrups, sweets, and oils. It was a lovely day trip — Nur kept us together, kept us safe, and kept the mood cheerful. Overall, it was a wonderful experience filled with great memories.

It was a wonderful day out. Noor was really friendly and a great guide her knowledge of the area is impressive. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Pamukkale thermal waters. If the breakfast and lunch were improved, it would make the experience even more enjoyable. The driver was also very kind, always smiling and welcoming us. All in all, a well-guided tour.

It was a wonderful adventure from start to finish, with convenient hotel pick-up and drop-off. We began with a magical sunset ride in a hot air balloon, followed by a hearty breakfast. After that, we toured Pamukkale, where we had the chance to swim in the warm mineral pools (Cleopatra’s Pool) and explore the ancient city of Hierapolis with our guide, who provided insightful explanations along the way. There’s a museum, additional thermal pools, and plenty more to see there. We finished with a buffet lunch before heading back to the hotel. 10 out of 10 — a truly amazing experience!

We booked this for my wife’s birthday, and it turned out to be a fantastic day trip — I highly recommend it! Our tour guide, Shahin (not sure if I’m spelling it right), was wonderful. He kept us engaged by dropping in random gems of historical knowledge all along the tour. The waters were great for a swim, and the travertines were simply stunning — both up close and from a distance. I’d definitely do this tour again. Side note: the 3 hours of free time may seem plenty, but it flies by much faster when you’re in the pool!

I was picked up from my hotel right on time, and we made a stop for a boxed breakfast. After that, we visited a factory that creates items like ornaments and jewelry from stones, some of which are unique to Turkey. Next, we headed to Pamukkale, where our guide provided all the necessary information to navigate the area, along with some historical background about Pamukkale. She also handled our entrance tickets, including access to the Cleopatra Pool, making the whole process smooth and hassle-free. My favorite part was definitely the Cleopatra Pool—I could have stayed there all day. Later, we had a buffet lunch, which I thought was lacking in variety and quality, even though there was plenty of food. After lunch, we stopped at a wine tasting factory before heading back to Marmaris. Our guide, Sultan Nur, was very helpful throughout the day, and I would definitely recommend her.
